So, you are starting to think about college. If you are in your junior or senior year of high school, it is looming pretty close in the near future. There are some great schools in Florida, and with so many to look into and discover, how will you choose the right one? If you are born and raised in Florida, chances are you know someone who has attended one of the many public or private universities. University of Minnesota (UM) Golden Gophers Football Players Taken in 2010 NFL Draft – 2 Selected

The University of Minnesota (UM) Golden Gophers had two football players selected in the 2010 NFL Draft that was held in April at Radio City Music Hall in NYC. The two men from the football program at the school selected by National Football League franchises are:

Eric Decker (wide receiver) – taken with the 87th overall pick in the 3rd round by the Denver Broncos
Nathan Triplett (linebacker) – selected as the 167th players taken in the draft and going to the Minnesota Vikings with a fifth round pick

Eric Decker was a fan favorite at the wide receiver position for fans in the Minneapolis area during his college playing days. The 6’3″ 217 pound player was originally born in 1987 in Cold Spring, Minnesota and in addition to excelling on the grid iron is also an outstanding baseball player.

Maurice Clarett of Ohio State University Tried to Enter the NFL Draft Early After Freshmen Season

Maurice Clarett became a household name amongst college football fans in the fall of 2002 when he emerged as the freshmen running back sensation of the high profile Ohio State University (OSU) Buckeyes football team that went onto win the college football national championship in double overtime against the University of Miami in the Fiesta Bowl. Sadly for Maurice and his supporters his life would take a decidedly downhill turn following the pinnacle of hoisting the national championship trophy on January 3, 2003.

Winning the national championship in Phoenix in January of 2003 was the conclusion of a perfect 13-0 season that ended with Ohio State silencing critics that had marked the Buckeyes as 11.5 point underdogs going into the Fiesta Bowl game. At the conclusion of that football season the future looked extraordinarily bright for freshmen standout Maurice Clarett. A series of events over the next few years reversed the fortunes of this once promising young man.
